In most cases, full RGB should be set to Limited as TV's don't expect to be getting full 0-255 colour range over HDMI.

On a more serious note, it's a big help and has convinced me that I don't need to pay a small fortune for a decent switcher!

Guys - just a quick update to say thanks a million for all your help
I received one of these boxes in the post today and it really is excellent. Running stuff in 1080p I cannot see any loss in picture quality at all and have experienced none of the intermittent blackouts etc. many people seem to suffer with other budget switchboxes.

Thanks for the advice too. I've just ordered one of those Joytech boxes. Being able to power it off my Sky HD box means I don't have to add yet another plug to the collection, so that's a bonus too.Comment

Just ordered a new HDMI switch seeing as I've just added an HD-DVD player and DVD recorder to the living room setup.
It has 4 HDMI, component, video, Scart and S-Video inputs. Thanks to the built in Faroudja scaler it will upscale the component output from the Wii as well. Tempted to try running my Saturn and old Laserdisc player through it when it arrives tomorrow.Comment

Thanks for the heads-up with that, CMcK, it's very interesting to see companies like Pioneer and Denon enter the video processing field.
The Faroudja solution (implemented well) is pretty damn good all things considered and I imagine it won't be too expensive either. I'm assuming this doesn't need to be used with a Kuro TV, right, it's just promoted that way? There's no trickery involved with the Service port which actually requires one of Pioneer's own TVs to be on the other end?Comment

And Superfi claim it's limited to 1080i That's a bit surprising for a ?300 machine when a ?30 HDMI switchbox from Joytech can handle 1080p24
But I like the idea of component/HDMI switching in the same box. It does look great though as well

And a deinterlacer. The 1080i maximum output would give me the willies though, I'd rather have an external device like that do *everything* rather than re-interlacing for output.
I wonder what Faroudja/Genesis chip is in there...Comment
