    TV Stand & Audio help

I'm close to moving into a new place so obviously most of my thoughts are surrounding my AV setup, I already have a TV but the rest I'm struggling with.

Problem is, I've only got about 4ft (121cm) to put the AV setup due to an awkward fireplace, and most of the decent units I've seen take up far more room than this. The TV is 32" and I'd need space for all the consoles etc Thing is, I'm trying to avoid a glass TV stand because then you can see all them horrible wires.

Audio wise, I already own a logitech 5.1 system but I'm going to keep that for my PC in another room. It's alright but I want something more effective.
Does anyone have any experience of the yamaha sound projection speaker? http://www.richersounds.com/showprod...AMA-YSP900-BLK
I've read good reviews, but I'm worried that it wouldn't give good enough rear sound, especially as I wouldn't be able to sit particularly far away from the back wall.

I really like the idea of floorstanding speakers if I can get it all in, but it all depends on the size of the unit!

Any recommendations on TV stands or tips for audio?

http://www.chaseavdirect.co.uk/ - have a look here for a stand. I bought mine from them and I can't say enough positive things about them. Superb service They have some insane bargains occasionally too - my stand should have been £350 iirc and I only paid £130

As for that speaker, I've heard good things about it but I'm sceptical. It might be really good but I'd never trust someone telling me that...I just don't believe a single speaker can emulate 5.1 surround sound. Try and get a demo though as they're really highly regarded

Thanks - that Ikea set looks a bit nasty to me...like it'd fall apart just looking at it! Would need to see it in the flesh though. Not much point in me looking into AV stands until I'm actually in the place and can take proper measurements! I think I'm getting ahead of myself somewhat

Audio wise I have a lot to learn, so am researching already. I've gone off the idea of the 5.1 in one speaker idea, I don't think my room would suit the way it projects the sound.

I'm looking at seperates now, expensive but looking like the best option... I know very little about it though so a bit scary! If I bought this Onkyo SR605 Receiver, would I need a seperate Amplifier too?

And any suggestions for speakers? Couple hundred quid is my budget for them, roughly.

Can anybody suggest any other good furniture sites?

I've moved into my new house and my girlfriend's sold hers so she's offered to buy us a BIG telly, but I need to put it on something nice! problem is, there's only a 103cm gap inbetween the skirting. eBay and a FurnitureToday.co.uk are ok, but nothing's hit the mark.

This is the closest thing so far:

If NTSC-UKers come up with the goods, I could be playing 360 and PS3 on the big screen within a week!

Pete, have you thought of wall mounting the TV above the fireplace? It's saved me a load of room. The lounge now seems massive.

Yeah I may do that, need to check the quality of the wall when I get there. Also not sure what to do with the cables and other gubbins though (consoles etc!).

I got that Ikea media cabient and it is fine for me.
It is good enough. No doors or barriers and plenty of space, and wheel means I can get to cable / socket easier. I also put a table on top of it for my TV and remote. Much better now. I will tidy my room up a bit and take photos at the weekend.

                    On the cabient I have

XBOX 360 drive, XBOX 360, Wii, Gamecube, N64 (one shelf)

DVD player (amp on top), Sky+, DC (2nd row)

PS2, Av Control centre, and XBOX on 3rd row. Can add PS3 but I don't have one.

I threw away one from Argos away as it is too wobbly, used doors and not very practial for me. I can't relax with my expensive TV on the wobbly cabient.

Amazing things I get lot more for my money from Ikea than Argos.

It is quality and a bargain.
