350 elite - how does it work?

had a quick look at one of these yesterday and the a/v port on the elite is exactly the same as the premium, in fact it seems to come with some sort of hdmi adaptor, so i was just wondering if anyone here can explain how it works (i'm rubbish with stuff like this!). also, how much of an increase in image quality can i expect if i move from component hd to hdmi?

None. Although you can go upto 1080p on hdmi if your display supports it.
One benefit is that you only need one cable for audio and video.
