    N00b 360 + HDMI Question, Help!

    Hello all!

I`m sorry if this question has been answered a million times but this is all new to me and I didn`t know where to look.

I`m buying my first HDTV this week and I have a 360 that I`ll be playing on it. I just wanted to know is it worth getting a HDMI cable for it as I`ve heard that the 360 can`t produce digital audio through the cable? Is this fact or bull****?

Also the TV I`m getting can display in 1080p, is this the best setting for playing 360 games?

Cheers lads and laymans terms only please!

I may be wrong but I didn't think the current 360 model had an HDMI output and I don't think there is a HDMI cable either.

Are you getting one of the New HDMI 360s also?
      What TV is it?

Outputting in 1080p is only neccessary for HD-DVDs and about 3 other 1080p compatible games, otherwise you aren't gaining anything.

What specific TV are you getting, Nembot?

And there is a current (in some territories) model with HDMI output. I've had one since April

The new 360s with HDMI output come with HDMI leads - the 'normal' 360s have optical out so that's fine for surround sound! Otherwise the 'normal' 360s can't do HDMI so no need to worry about it.

Better colours/blacks, upscaling on SD DVDs, good upscaling on all non-1080p games (via HDMI).

Sorry about the late reply but thank you all for your advice.

However I got it wrong. The TV I`m getting is this one >> http://www.bigpockets.co.uk/product....1d825fb91791df

It displays in 720p and 1080i so am I right in assuming that I`ll be playing my games in 720p? I won`t be getting an elite console so I`ll be sticking to my normal 360.

            Cheers!

Yep, sending it 720p would be the best option.
