    360 and VGA tearing problem

I'm getting lots of tearing when playing DiRT, and looking in the first play thread it seems people aren't getting the same problem with VGA that I have. What's the problem? is it my cable (a ?5 ebay job btw), or my TV?

Yeah i get nasty tearing problems on Dead Rising via VGA, with an official lead on my Toshiba WLT68. Think it's a general problem with VGA and certain games, i hear Lost Planet suffers the same. I hope it's fixable, and Microsoft get on to it but i'm not holding my breath.

      Thanks for your help mate.

Yeah I heard it's a general problem with some games, but it's strange that i'm getting very bad tearing on Dirt and others say they have none at all. This makes me think there's something not right in my setup.

DiRT has awful tearing through component as well.

I did try component and there was an improvement over VGA, but it's still poor. With VGA it can tear on every corner on some tracks and really ruins the game for me. I would use component but I prefer the VGA picture and extra settings it brings.

I have found if tearing is there with component it will be worse with VGA but I prefer to use VGA so just put up with it. Dead Rising used to be fine until either a game or dash update and then it started to tear bad. The worse tearers I've seen are Splinter Cell: Double Agent, MotoGP '06 and Perfect Dark Zero.

I've noticed in more recent games that tearing is getting less and less.

Use 1280x720 if your display accepts it to avoid having the 360 add tearing to a game. It is not caused by the VGA lead though. If you set the 360 to anything other than 720p you'll see it with some games. It's just that people with VGA are more likely to run at something other than 720p. (1280x720)

Some games just have a lot of tearing because they can't keep to a stable 30/60fps though.
