Looking for a new TV

[Supergoal]

I'm not in the UK, but some advice as to what TV type is generally the best for image quality?

Money isn't so much of an issue. Size wise I don't think anything bigger than 40inch would fit where I want to put it.

Just would love something with top image quality and future proof hardware would be my main wants.

Any help appreciated.

Planar are bringing out the first THX certified LCD screens which come in 40-52inch variations.
I bet they are lovely, but require a proper AV setup to go with them as they only have 1 HDMI and no tuner of any sorts.
no news on pricing though.

If you are wanting to futureproof a little, waiting for a few more HDMI 1.3 sets to appear might be worth it.
