plugging an extension in to another extension.

I have a 2 metre 8 plug surge protector. Each plug has an individual power switch. My problem is it's 1 metre too short. If I use an extension, then plug in the surge protector will it negate all the safety measures of the surge protector? Is it dangerous?!
If this is a bad idea, can anybody recomend a cheapish 3m surge protector, maybe link to it? Thanks.

Probably isn't recommended but I've had no problems daisy-chaining extensions before. In fact I've got a couple chained together right now...

I think I have like 4 daisy chained together right now with all the main big things in a surge protector one. Been like this for 18 months and its all fine n dandy.

Probably not 'recommended' but in theory its usually okay.
