Wii key, US-NTSC Wii and updates

    If you've updated the firmware to 3.0 the config disks on the Wiikey site no longer work.
    Even with non-working (but correctly installed) chips I've never had a Wii that wouldn't boot original disks. I think this is a symptom of the v3.0 firmware.

      there is a rebuilt one available that works on the 3.0 fw now. i have had the exact issue that he is describing when doing an install before. If the chip has been preset to turn region free on, and is set to US say, then it patches every game's (real or not) boot code to US, therefore no games load. This is common on the clones seemingly.

        Oh wow I didn't know that, so It may just be set to NTSC then, I should have Metroid in a few days so I can check it out when it arrives.

          Burn this and see if it loads, I'm pretty sure it will, this is the repacked setup disc. Make sure you use the PAL one.

          If it boots, this will set your Wii to PAL, and it should allow all your PAL games (and some NTSC games) to work.
