360 Premiums, silver and grey detailing?

Just been tinkering with a mates xbox 360, all the while I thought there was something different about it.

It's just clicked, the grey detailing bits on his (on the controller, the hdd, the end grills) have a silvery finish on mine.

Not a biggie, just wondered why? Anyone?

The Earliar units (up until about april 06 had the silvery finish on them and the glow in the dark guide buttons)
They went for the cheaper grey plastic after that
