    Another console up in smoke

My first Xbox developed a loose power socket and electrocuted me a bunch of time before giving up the ghost. I bought a new modded one several months back and just last night it started having disc drive problems. I thought it was just a dirty disc but it seems to now have problems with every game, it'll still run but mostly it'll load really slowly and keep getting stuck, what's more certain games like Sands of Time seem to run in slow motion, wtf!

I'm guessing this one is for the bin too. I've really had it with this stupid console and can't be arsed buying yet another Xbox. I'm thinking maybe I should just buy a 360 finally and hope I can somehow use my save files and most of the games I have. I usually buy things second hand but I think I should get a new one so I at least have a warranty this time.

I really have no luck with hardware, I've been through 2 xboxs, 4 ps1s, 3 DCs and god knows how many PCs. Even my 4th modded ps1 died recently and I now I have a load of Japanese ps1 games in the attic I'll probably never use again.

I'm not sure if there's a question in here somewhere, this more just letting of steam.

No offence but if you're after a reliable console i'd definatly steer well clear of the 360!

I can agree to that. I won't buy another for a long time.

Was this an early X-box? I remember The old versions fried after lots of use and microsoft had to send out new button power cables.

I Have never had a console die on me( Touch wood )except for a couple of fuse replacements.

Damn, that's just a streak of bad luck. I never had a problem with a videogame console in 17 years, go figure O_o

Clean the JAMMA edge dude. Also re-seat the B board.
                  Kept you waiting, huh?

Thanks for the replies guys, it does indeed seem that the 360 is even less reliable. The concesus seems that the newer revision 360 will be more reliable although it rather confusing trying to identify one.

Anyway, I just tried my Xbox again with several different games and DVDs and it seems to be running fine if a little tempermental. However Sands of Time still appears to running in some kind of slow motion, it's really is bizarre. Has anyone heard of such a fault before?

                    Cheers.
