    PSP Game recommendations?

I'm getting myself a PSP Slim tomorrow, and just wondered what's the latest good games for it?

I'm getting Metal Gear: Portable Ops and GTA: Vice City Stories with it, and got a 4gb memory stick on the way to try out demos.

    Cheers!

Depends what you like I suppose. Ridge Racer and Lumines plus their sequels are very good and can be found for less than a tenner these days.

Wipeout is also worth looking at as well as Virtua Tennis - both are more or less the same so I'd recommend getting the older/cheaper one.

If you like retro then the Sega Mega Drive Collection is great as well.

Load times on the above aren't too bad either compared to some games.

I'm open to most things, RPGs, Racing games, Action etc.

Had most of those though, bought a PSP at Japanese launch and sold it last summer.

Didn't like wipeout tbh, just didn't agree with me. Ridge and Lumines are awesome though.

If you're into RPGs, there are 2 "Tales of" games available for it, Eternia and a new one which I've yet to pick up.

The Warriors is a fun little title too if you've not played a console version.

Can't think of anything else to recommend off the top of my head I'm afraid, my PSP tends to get used mostly for Homebrew and PS1 games these days.

Every Extend Extra is rather brill. A nice twist on the shooter genre.

Metal Slug Complete, Daxter and Ratchet & Clank are also bloody good fun!

Jeanne D'arc is a must if you like SRPG's.

What's a SRPG? Strategy? Like Final fantasy tactics? I hated that, but just because of how disconnected it felt from the world it was in.

I think enchanted arms is an SRPG? i enjoyed that.

Burnout Legends (not Dominator) and Minna no Golf are two absolute musts.

Exit. It's better then any game mentioned so far. Kangaeru Exit is even better.
                  Kept you waiting, huh?

Gokumakaimura is brilliant. And there are three grade A fighters on offer if you get the D-pad add on mod done, you get yourself grown-up console quality Tekken, SF Zero and Vampire Chronicle.

Outrun Coast To Coast and Virtua Tennis 3 bring the Sumo-styles Sega arcade thrills, and you cannot go far wrong with the brilliant Lumines in terms of puzzling.

If you can, try and get the homebrew and all that sorted. The PSP is ideal for emulating SNES, MD, NES, MS, GB and CPS1/2 on the move. Once you have experienced playing Actraiser whilst having a really good crap, you won't wanna go back. It is also a rare thrill to be able to play your fave PS1 titles whilst snuggling in bed, or catching the bus, or taking a dump.

Of course, if illegal piracy isn't your bag, there are plenty of cheapo retro compilations on offer, like the superb Megadrive one, about four Capcom ones, and the fan service-tastic clutch of Konami releases (Salamander, Gradius, Twinbee, Parodius and forthcoming Akumajo Dracula).

I'm getting a Japanese PSP off a friend for £50. Anything I should be worried about? I'm mostly getting it as a companion to my PS3 and as a replacement for my broken iPod (it doesn't matter that it's large). Looking forward to playing SOTN on it and may try out Jeanne D'Arc. Anyway, thansk for posting thsi topic, v.useful!

its an oldie but Everybodies Golf is perfect hand held fodder.

always left in my psp and costs buttons nowadays.

Parodius, Gradius, Twinbee & Salamander Portable if you're keen on shooting stuff. Star Soldier as well.
