    360 component issue

Was playing my 360 on Saturday night no probs and when I went to play it yesterday I'm getting no picture whatsoever through my component cable. Checked that it's set to HDTV and took out and reinserted the cables but still no joy.

Anyone know if this is a common problem or if there's a way around it or am I just going to have to buy a new cable?

    Cheers.

Check all connections (perhaps try in standard def to see if you are getting a signal). If using a splitter box, remove connections and try a direct feed into the tv.

360's can lose video output as part of a 'pending' 3 red light failure. (I know mine did)

Hopefully this is not the case for you though.

Checked all the connections and no joy. Tried it in SD and in SD on my bros TV and still nothing. I can hear it starting up buy no picture.

I've had the 3 red lights in the past but I've always got rid of them straight away.

Maybe it's time for an Elite...

        try this -

        1. Remove any discs from the disc tray.
        2. Turn the console off.
        3. Turn the console on using guide button on controller.
        4. As the console starts, press and hold the Y button, and then pull the right trigger at the same time.
        5. The Xbox Dashboard resets the display settings to the default settings, and then automatically restarts the console.

Thanks for the info mate. Tried this but no joy. Looks like I have to fork out for another console

Thought I'd post this here instead of making a new thread.

If I was to buy a new console, can I just use my existing HDD on it or do I need to transfer stuff across like with the Elite?

Also, I have an Asian console, would the HDD work on a Japanese console?

The only thing that wouldn't work automatically is your XBLA games. They are signed via DRM to the console rather than the hard drive and will therefore not work offline. Here's the method I used to get it working:

              1. Sign into Xbox Live.
              2. Go to the marketplace blade.
              3. Select "Account Management".
              4. Select "Download History".
              5. Find the "Full Game" of whichever XBLA title and re-download it.

Your games should now play offline. A great improvement on the old system.
Some people can't get this working, though.

This is the EXACT same problem that I had on sunday. Its broken matey, even those the console works, it wont ever feed the picture thourhg, regardless of component,VGA, composite or RGB. Mine had to go unfortunately.

Yeah that's your console gubbed - It's what happened to my launch 360 too - On the plus side, despite there being no red lights and me knowing it was the same endemic fault (the graphics card dismounting) they repaired it and refunded my fee so you'll get that sorted for nowt

I bought it from Yesasia though. Is there any way I can get it replaced or anywhere that will do repairs.

Another question - if I bought a Japanese wired console, can I just stick my old HDD in and use my wireless controllers?
How easy is transferring HDD's? Just a matter of take it off my old one and add it to my new one? What about my Live account - any issues there?

                    Cheers.
