    Random Xbox 360 question.

Right, me and my flatmate are having this silly debate. Silly cause I know he's wrong lol. He says that a 360 playing on an HD READY tv, WONT play the games in High Def unless you have the HD DVD drive installed.

But I said that thats only for playing ND dvd movies NOT the games, as the 360 is pretty much HD ready gamewise. That's what i know anyway.

Would buying an HD DVD drive make a difference to the actual graphic quality of the GAMES?? Surely it's just the component cables you need?

This "friend".... It's not you is it?

Scarily enough all the HDDVD drive does is let you play HDDVDs.

That's worse than when DVD came out and my mate insisted you'd need a "digital tv" for it to work.

Dispite the fact that, until DVI and HDMI appeared, there were no digital standards on TV's anyway :P

Your mate might just be confused though. It's obviously true that a Component cable is required for HD, but I've had to explain to more than a few people that their PS3 isn't HD on their new HDTV unless they buy a separate cable. They don't make this easy.

Haha! Thanks for the "support" guys!

I just wanted to prove him wrong and I think this worked.. I dragged him to the screen to show him this thread.. and he ran away in denial

By the by.. just to escalate a bit.. will HDDVDs work on 360s AT ALL without the HDDVD drive? Or is it just for playing them in high def? Thats ME asking that

No, HD-DVD's are physically completely different to DVD's, thus needing a HD-DVD drive. The drive itself is just a reader drive, nothing fancy about it.
Same as how you can't put a DVD in a CD drive.
