2 Players, 1 Console, Halo 3 and Live

Got a bit of a tricky one here, I got my 48hr live code, enter it and can play on Live with Halo 3, Matchmaking works fine, all good.

I have a buddy round here and we both want to play on Live, so go into the lobby and I sign in with my gamertag and my buddy uses the guest account they have listed. I always get an error message and can never play with a friend. I have even made him a profile and no luck, so eve when me and "Ryan" try to play I get the same error, something about not having the right account for live.

Any ideas, could it be something to do with the 48hr code.

code works fine, ive been on playing co-op online with the missus and another dude online

You need to wait a minute and restart the machine once redeeming the code.

I have full gold membership and i couldnt get 2 players on 1 xbox vs anyone else to work >< but ive seen people with tagname & tagname(1) playing eg 2 players on same xbox. How u do it?!

Wouldnt the second account logged in have to have a Gold account or a free 48 hour code too for example?

Doesn't that mean in order to play whenever I like with a friend I need 2 Live subscriptions, one for my gamertag and one for a profile I never use? Surely there's another way.

Nope thats the MS way, good aint it?

You can take up to three guests into Live with one Gold account in Halo 2 and 3. Just press A in the lobby when the controllers are connected and select Guest in the account list (should be at the bottom). Works for unranked matches and custom games only.

Has this worked for you, because using the guest account doesn't work for me.

I guess I will try get hold of a few free trials and test it out.

Doesn't the guest thing only work in UNRANKED matches? That's the case with Gears of War.

Ah, could be. I'll have to give it a try, what everyone else is saying on other forums is both profiles need a live account.

Yeah if you sign in guests you can't play in ranked matches, only social matchmaking and custom games. Also they aren't allowed voice chat
