    Some PSP questions

I've been here too long without posting a thread containing oodles of questions that I really should know the answers to. Consider this thread to redress that balance!

I've finally decided to pick up a PSP. Don't worry, I'm not worried about the firmware and all that gubbins so this should hopefully be pretty simple.
    1. Price/bundles (I quite like the look of the US PSP Lite + Daxter) aside, is there any difference at all between systems bought in the three regions?
    2. I have a US PS3 - are there likely to be any problems with the PSP>PS3 functionality (Remote play, PS1 games etc...) if I don't pick up a US model?
    3. Are there region restrictions on DLC in PSP games? So if I were to buy a US/JP version of Wipeout Pure for example I would be able to buy content from the UK store (As it may well be the only store I can get stuff from) and have that appear in the game.
    4. Can I put PS1 games from any of the stores onto any region PSP?
I'm pretty sure the answers are No, No, No, Yes but confirmation would be nice. Thanks.

    1. Only UMD movie compatability, although custom firmware kills that.

    2. I don't think so, but I'd get matching regions just to be sure and future- proofed.

    3. If you use the PSP to D/L content directly it'll get it from the appropriate region's store anyway. So if you buy a JPN game, it'll go to the JPN store etc.

    4. Most of them, but I think certain ones are restricted. Don't quote me mind.
    Kept you waiting, huh?

Excellent, ta. I'm not likely to pick up too many PS1 games for it anyway but it's nice to know most are. I'll just check before I pick any up. Not fussed about the movies at all.

I'm leaning towards picking this up: http://www.videogamesplus.ca/product...ducts_id=13435. Think I'd rather have black though.

Not much help but I can confirm remote connectivity between a PAL PS3 and a Japanese PSP. Japanese PSPs also have the O and X buttons mapped round the wrong way for some reason.

Depends which way you look at it. The Japanese (logically when you think about it) see X as No, hence they use circle for select instead. I've got used to it from owning Japanese consoles.

As far as PS1 games bought from the store, I think you can only use games bought from one store at a time. You have to sync the PSP up to a store account before you can use the games, and I don't believe there is any way to switch between them without deleting the association and restarting the process.

Cheers. I've bought stuff exclusively from the US store on the PS3 so I'll probably continue doing that for this (As it looks like I've finally managed to get through to Wirecard). I'll get in touch with VGP I think and see what their policy is on dead pixels (Assuming that's a problem still on the PSP screen) before I order.

Loads of stuff to clear out in the meantime.

One last question... can you share saves between the PS3 and PSP 'versions' of downloaded PS1 games? So can I take my SOTN save from the PS3 and use it on the PSP?

Just waiting for VGP to confirm their returns process in case this has screen problems, then I'm going to order.

The not only see X as No, but also circle as yes, like how we see a tick. It is infact the right way around too. It's the USA and PAL versions that have it wrong.

Can anyone shed any light on why Play-Asia won't ship PSP accessories to the UK? Was looking at picking up something like this, but they don't ship to the UK.

Sony threatened to hit them with a broom unless they stopped shipping PSP stuff anywhere. If I remember rightly it was just after Lik-Sang closed so P-A got all scared and cowered in the corner, hugging their PSP products.

                    Something like that anyway.

You can use any regions downloaded games on your PSP.

When transferring the downloaded game to the PSP you have to be signed into the owning ID on the PS3 for it to transfer it across.

The PSP can only be registered to one PS3 ID at a time so you will need to reconnect it to the PS3 and re-register it each time you switch from one region's games to another...unless you use custom firmware!

I wouldn't be too surprised to see multiple user IDs on the PSP the same as you have on your PS3 some time in the future though.

Yes, you can share saves between the PS3 & PSP.

You won't get any import Sony stuff from PlayAsia as Sony are really stamping down on it the way Nintendo used to and Microsoft seem to be starting to do!

Lot's of other places will do it though.

With the DLC games it's worked before with Wip3out for me but I can't say it will with all games. It's quite easy to find other regions DLC on the web though.

Thanks for the info on the saves. I'm still a little surprised that the export embargo stretches to accessories though to be honest. I'll have to see what I can find elsewhere.

Anyone have any experience with those on a PSP? I know Sandisk are a reputable make, but I try not to buy non official bits for my consoles if possible. I'm particularly interested in the USB adapter for it so that I can manage the memory stick as easily as possible, downloading/renaming files and the like.

                          Thanks.

I thing the general consensus is Sandisck are faster than the Normal ones as a rule. There are also faster types too, Sandisk Ultra

Sandisk are fine. They are a licensed producer for Sony and I've had no problems with their stuff ever.

And, as pointed out, some of them are quicker than their Sony counterparts.

The USB is handy too if you don't have a MemoryStick reader on your PC...or you are getting one of the newer PS3 models.

                              EDIT:
The Sony models are slightly cheaper though.
