    360 Guide.

I just got Skate and was thinking it would be cool to access some custom soundtracks so I hit the guide button and get greeted with this message.

Use the xbox guide button to
    ? access your music
? contact your friends, read messages, and chat
    ? customize your interface
? turn your console on and off
The xbox guide is not available in demo mode

Eh!! I'm not in Demo mode. Or I don't think so anyway. Anyone know how to solve this annoying occurance?

    Thanks.

That can't be good That's what retail demo units say when you press the Guide button...it shouldn't be coming up with that message!

Where did you buy it from/was it new or used etc? I'd send it back or at least send it to MS and get them to fix it

Well its a Japanese model that I bought from Yes Asia way back at launch. Just had another strange occurance with Smackdown vs Raw 2007. It wouldn't find the HDD attached. So I switched it off and wiggled the HDD about a bit. Then it found it. And the guide came back foe Smackdown. Will try Skate again tomorrow and see if it's back for good now.

        Update.

Still not fixed. Guide not working. Smackdown doesn't find the HDD. I can't hold down the middle controller button to switch the console off anymore.

TBH I'm getting really annoyed now. Has anyone got any suggestions?

Could it be the VGA Cable that I'm using. Why has my 360 suddenly started acting like a demo model? Recent update? VGA belkin switch? I'm about set to sell off all my games and get them all on PS3. Which is really drastic!!

Have you tried phoning MS? I know their level of knowledge is pretty poor most of the time, but it might be worth trying. Also, you could ask over at the Xbox-Scene forums...

Well after doing some digging it would appear that a few others have had similar problems.

So looks like it could be the Belkin. Which defeats the purpose for buying it really. I'll have a cable play tonight I think.
