Anyone got a 360 Premium with HDMI yet?

My 360 died last night, and I'm not waiting 5 weeks to have it fixed so am going to buy another one in the mean time. Halo 3 arrived in the post the same ****ing day...

So, is the HDMI equipped 360 Premium in UK stores yet or do I need to buy one of these stupid looking Halo or Elite's which neither my HDDVD drive, wireless headset or Wii match?

MS say allow 5 weeks for the return of your console, mine took exactly a fortnight from collection in September this year.

Yep, HDMI Premiums are in stores. Just make sure you check the rear of the console box for the HDMI logo in case you get an older console.

You'll need to buy a seperate special HDMI cable pack for it though, which costs around £30-35 if you want to use HDMI.

I took in my faulty Premium into Currys Digital (Bolton) last week and was given one of the new Premiums with HDMI too.

It states HDMI on the rear of the box so i'm sure the store you're getting one from won't mind you demanding one that is.

Yes you can and can get full 5.1 through it however if you dont have a hdmi amp then you ned the dongle or really cheap component lead as putting the supplied component lead in means the hdmi lead wont fit in acording to the interwebs, i havent tried as i use a hdmi amp.

Theres a way to save yourself the 35 quid on the cheap to get both:

Cool thanks guys. A mate of mine doesn't use his 360 so he's going to give me his for the interim. I'll go through the repair process (I see it's going to Teleplan in Havent) and if I don't get one with HDMI I'll trade it in for one.

Interesting. But isn't having all that metal exposed, well, dangerous and might cause a short, or at the least some interference?

The external metal shielding is the ground, so there should be no interference or shorting technically, although I've not done it meself (aaahh VGA....)
Best bit of advice with that mod is not to lick the metal shielding when it's on - it'll taste really bad.....

I just stuck my 3rd party VGA lead in which actually fits in at the the time and used the optical from that.
