    What's your budget?

Will you be using it for HD a lot?

Will you be using it for PC?

All key issues really! The latter you'll want one that'll display native res 1:1 for example.

As I said, I'm really clueless when it comes to the new gen tech....

Just looking for something for the living room that'll last a few years.

Can't really spend much more then ?500.

Don't buy dvds so guess HD's not that important.

Don't have SKY, or any of the new gen consoles yet.

So just standard tele & top box + some of the older consoles, i.e., snes, n64 and PS2.

PC to tele....is that just for watching films etc?

Dont buy a budget LCD just dont do it to yourself, sounds like for the meantime youd be best set with a 2nd hand widescreen CRT maybe if you mostly watch tv, or a square Sony Trinitron if you game on it a lot.

Imagine you could get a 26" Sony Bravia LCD for that much tho which will prolly be pretty decent.

Basically, you get what you pay for and with Sony Bravia offering some of the best LCD's around at the mo, I would def recommend you go with a "big" brand rather than a supermarket budget set. That said, you dont really need an LCD from your requirements, no Hi Def source etc. Take a look at the tv at the bottom of this link anyway..http://www.cheapelectricals.co.uk/ac...ny_32_lcd.html

The higher end stuff just has better panels, and usually better attention to detail on the video processing side (in other words, the software running in the back of the TV benefits from a company's TV experience and doesn't do stupid things to the picture... well that's the theory anyway).

My advice always is, if you're looking into LCD, get one with an S-PVA panel. Most of the Samsung and Sony TVs above the 26" size feature those. I'm not saying all the other types of panel aren't worth looking at, but S-PVA technology's almost consistently impressed me. I find they have much more believable black levels, so you avoid that nasty glowy purple LCD look.

How about this? http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sony-KDL32S3...1915532&sr=8-1 I've not used the S3000 myself, but from what I've heard and seen in stores, there's nothing to be afraid of (and it has the S-PVA panel).

Edit: Cheapelectricals have the KDL-32S3000 for £493.96 delivered (last item on the page): http://www.cheapelectricals.co.uk/ac...ny_32_lcd.html

I imagine the S30 is the sucessor to the S20? I see it has 3x HDMI's, compared to the S20's 1x and the S25's 2x
