Xbox 360 game updates when no new ones have been released

Why do I get prompted to update old games with an update when no new ones have been released and I already installed the most recent update the last time I played the game?

All this hard drive space and it's as if the console can only hold a set number of updates in total, so when you play a game you haven't played in a while you have to reinstall the update and the oldest one drops off. Why are they not saved to the game's profile on the hard drive?

Mine went through a stage of doing this, maybe try clearing the update cache

Is that the special button combination that deletes all and only game updates?

        yesth

        Go to system dash
        choose memory
highlight you HDD and press Y
        then press
XX LR RB XX and that will clear game updates out

          Thanks.

I have now done this and inserted each one of my games to get the latest update and will see how it goes from here.

Out of curiosity, have Rainbow Six: Vegas and MotoGP '06 had new updates recently because these are two of the culprits that always seem to prompt for updates?

Funny you mention this as I was about to post about the same thing.

Rainbow Six Vegas had an update to change some of the ad boards (both the Lynx/Axe ones and the made up ones) to advertise some movie or other. Other than that, I don't know what's going on.
