    Wii Hardware Problem

Just to let you know, if you start getting a hint of green speckles on your screen while playing then take it back asap before your warranty runs out. Happened to me and took it back to game and they pretended they never heard the problem before but according to Wikipedia, the wii processor can melt due to connect24 and causes a horrible effect on games! It got worse and worse but luckily got a new one out of it!

Hope this is good advice to wii owners

ps Who's ordered Mario Galaxy yet?

Wikipedia is a good place, but some infos are a bit exagerated...I've got my US Wii on standby and connected ever since I got it (January or so) and never experienced any problem. It's true that fans don't work and the back of the console gets hot (40° C, maybe?) but I don't think that Wiiconnect24 alone is the cause of such problems.

Speckles are always a death rattle! I had them - mostly purple - on my PS3 when it died. I don't believe this to be strictly related to Wii-connect-24 or whatever - any electronic product is always going to have some chip failures.

Interestingly, I get black speckles on mine which sort of increas in number, but only on the home menu screen when quitting *some* VC games. Go figure.

Mine has been on Connect24 since launch day, never turned off and no speckles. Luck o' the draw as they say.

Maybe bad connection or interferences on the cable itself? Green/purple speckles are common with faulty chips on all graphic hardware (bad RAM, most of the times), I sometime get a black screen on all my consoles due to the component splitter I'm using.

For analog video over a closed circuit, I don't think there's many ways black speckles could creep in. With HDMI, perhaps, but not with what the Wii outputs.

I have a slight issue with my US Wii, when the blue LED lights up when I get a message, the light doesn't pulse on and off. It slowly lights up and then when it's at full brightness goes stright off, it does it continuously until I turn it on.

It's not the cable briareos - as I said, it only happens with a couple of the VC games, not all of them.
