    Wii PAL prog scan?

Do PAL Wii games all (or any) support progressive scan?

If yes, on the same subject: how is this enabled ie. does it have to be selected from the game start menu or can you set the Wii to auto-detect and select it if the game supports the option?

Pal Wii does do prog scan but not that many games support it last I heard. You just set the display to "EDTV/HDTV" in the Wii settings (this option will be blurred out if you don't have a component cable fitted) and if the game supports it, it will run progressively.

If you dont actually know why still give someone incorrect info?

Pretty much all the games worth playing have PS if it was originally in the NTSC game - so all Nintendo's games & Sega's + Resi 4 + Eledees + SSX + Godfather & probably others.

Trauma Center & Rayman dont have Progressive Scan but the NTSC versions didn't either. They are still 60hz though.

Some of EA's crap sports games lose PS & 60hz for the PAL release though (Tiger Woods '07), they may have improved with their '08 games though. COD 3 & Heatseeker are also just 50hz for PAL.

No you can't force PAL GC games into prog scan. Most PAL GC games simply don't support it eg. PAL MGS: The Twin Snakes, which BTW only runs at 50Hz too that's, generally, why NTSC version are preferable. As later PAL GCs didn't have the 'digital' AV socket it would have been pointless, from Nintendo's point of view, to have included it.

I just wondered what the situation was as regards the Wii. I knew it supported prog-scan but I wasn't sure if all (or any) PAL games did.

I've come across gamers on other forums who seem to think that they're getting prog-scan just because they're using component cables with the Wii. So I was wondering if it was like the XBox (NTSC/modded) where you enable 480p/720p/1080i direct from dashboard or more like the PS2 where you have to chose it from each game's start menus even though you've already set the console to YPbPr.

Not all Nintendo games support progressive.

Surely there's a website that lists the progscan compatible games? Well, I remember seeing one, but forget to bookmark it!

I know that PAL Kororinpa doesn't have 480p. Was going to buy it, but then checked the back of the box...

                PS Wii List

Theres one here but its not comprehensive.

As you can see Pro Scan is very common on Wii tiltes. Please note this site is quite good but does force skippable ads on you.

I remember seeing a good site some time ago but I had a look yesterday and couldn't find it.

I always check to see what's supported on teh back of the box. If progressive is missing it wouldn't stop be buying a game I really wanted but it has stopped me from buying games which I've half been thinking about buying.

If Galaxy didn't support it that may be enough to kill me. lol

Not all the channels support prog scan. News and weather do, but for some reason Everybody Votes doesn't.

                    Boo-urns!

D-sub adaptors and converters for Wii.

I'm in a situation regarding component and progressive scan and not sure what to do.
My TV is 37" Grundig flat/wide-screen CRT. It has D-sub input for 3 resolutions. The highest is the VGA resolution (640x480).
I have a PAL XBoX360 and the VGA cable. So I can pick the first resolution on the list in the dashboard (640x480) and I set it to widescreen.
Anyway I have a US Wii. My TV has no component input and a S-video cable is in the post. Having to endure composite at the moment.
I'm trying to work out, without spending hundreds/thousands on Professional equipment, if any of the Component to D-sub (I wish people would stop calling them VGA which is the name of a resolution) adaptors or converters would allow me to play progressive games on the Wii and select the EDTV/HDTV setting.
Aspect ratios are another thing. I can set the 360 to 640x480 and widescreen. But with the Wii. What native aspect ratio are the games? Can you get a converter which would allow me to select both normal and widescreen on the Wii? I'm thinking wouldn't normal be better as then it goes from the Wii and through the converter at the same resolution of
640x480 4:3. My TV can then do the anamorphic 16:9 part.
It's quite confusing as there are so many adaptors/cons on the market.
Take the Neoya X2VGA 2. It's well known. But I can't tell if it outputs 640x480 or 720x480 or both. If it was just the 720 one then that wouldn't be any good for me would it? I really don't want to take any risks and get something that doesn't work.

If anybody already does something similar, as they don't have component, what adaptor/converter are you using? Have you tried the 640x480 resolution? What other settings do you use on your Wii and monitor?
Can't believe the size of this post. Thought I'd be able to describe it in half as many words.
