PAL PS3 Network problems..

Hi all,
just bought a ps3 today but having problems creating a playstation netwrok account..
i get to the point just after putting where you live and your date of birth and i get the following message...

A Connection to the server could not be established
(80711008)

my ethernet cable is all plugged in and i managed to update the console when it turned on...
any ideas anyone??

Prehaps a problem their end ? you tried googling that error number ?

sorted it now. mu internet was going slow coz my flat m8 was downloading loads of stuff on the wireless

i bought a BD sony remote thingy but it doesnt seem to work??
how do u connect it to the ps3?

You've gotta go into the Settings Tab and it's down there as Accessories.

In that menu you pair them together
