Buying a 360 HDMI cable & HDMI - DVI adapter

Okay I finally got my new HDMI Premium 360 today.
Where is the best/cheapest place to get a 360 HDMI cable & a HDMI to DVI adapter to play it on my monitor?

Should I buy Official or are 3rd party versions just as good?

A HDMI cable is a HDMI cable. (they are digital so all work exactly the same)

I would go for one around the £10 mark so that they're properly built, though.

So they dont make a special console to HDMI cable then, its just a regular HDMI cable for all types of equipment?

HDMI cable is fine, but check if you need optical input socket for sound to amp.

What about a good HDMI - DVI adapter, or can u get a cable with HDMI on 1 side & a DVI output on the other?

Are gold plated better like they are with SCART cables?

Would this be any good, or should I get a HDMI cable separate & buy a HDMI to DVI connector?:

Or should I go for this coupled with the ebay link that EvilBoris added?:

I also read somewhere that with VGA connection the longer the cable the weaker the signal. Is this true with a HDMI cable too?

I recently bought a HDMI to DVI lead for using PS3 on my monitor - just beware that there are about three types of DVI connector, and check that your monitor will accept the required signal - HDCP, Shakey Jake pointed me in the right direction

A bit late now probably, but useful if someone else comes along searching maybe? I picked up some nice HDMI cables in Asda the other day which cost a tenner each, but they had one for £15 which included 2 HDMI to DVI adapters.

Okay I got my HDMI cable set up but I havent got any sound.
Can I run the picture through my HDMI cable & also hook my component cable that came with my 360 up to its port on my 360 & just run only the L & R cable to my Hi-Fi?

MS were a bit cheeky and tried to make it so that you cannot physically fit the Component cable and HDMI cable at the same time, to make you buy their addon.

But you can do it, you just need to remove the plastic shell from the Component cable connector to make it fit.

But its okay to do right?
I'm not gonna overheat the bare connector & my 360 isnt gonna be confused as to what video connection I'm using?

It's just plastic, there's no risk. It's earthed anyway.
