Taking The Plunge with the Xbox 360

I'm finally looking to invest some of my hard earned cash in a Xbox 360. The game thats swung me is Mass Effect. I was a huge fan of Kotor and consider this might now be the right time.

Anyway, my first question is, are there expected to be any Mass Effect bundles from MS when this comes out? Secondly, are there any other games which involve more than just shooting and driving coming out for the for the 360 in the next few months?

Skate? (out already) I really enjoyed this. More than any game so far this year.

Katamari. Might be best off with a Japanese machine if you're looking for the more esoteric picks on 360.

There's Oblivion, Trusty Bell (LOL) and Blue Dragon which are all meant to be good if you're into pointy hatted pursuits.

Other non-shooty/drivey games worth a look:

          Viva Pinata
          Overlord

Also Crackdown, which does feature shooting and driving, but is so much more that a shooting and driving game.

Assassin's Creed - (along with shooty Bioshock and Ace Combat 6) it's the one game that is currently making me examine my bank account to see if I can justify the outlay. I can't, but anything that looks like the love-child of Thief DS and TR/PoP seems to be one very good reason to own a NG console.

I like the sound of Bioshock, but I am utter cack at shooters. Is this a all guins blazing type of game, or more restrained?

It's action/light RPG orientated, though it's not filled with burly space marines, special ops or WWII soldiers if that's what you mean. The game's a more explorative based first-person shooter with a strong narrative underpinning it.

The Orange Box (Portal and Episode 2 are both must play), Oblivion, BioShock, Mass Effect, Assassin's Creed, Viva Pinata, Tomb Raider Anniversary (if you already haven't picked it up), Eternal Sonata and Lost Odyessy/Too Human early next year might be your bag. I'd also shout out for Condemned, which to my mind is the best survivial horror game over the last couple of years. Yeah, it takes place in first-person, but it's as about as far removed as a typical run and gun as you can get. Dead Rising is another - yeah there are guns, but the whole focus of the game is really on just screwing about with the physics and using objects on zombies/saving civilians. It's a light hearted/media savvy game.

                      Blue Dragon gets my vote.

Been playing for something like 45 hours now, still not finished, and loving it
