    6800GT upgrade?

    Folks,
I've got an old P4/3G Shuttle with a 6800GT. I run games mostly at 1024*768 but some of the more recent titles the card is starting to struggle. Just wondering if I should buy a more powerful AGP card or bite the bullet on a new PCI-X sysrtem?

    Neil.

    PCI-E, PCI-X are 64-bit PCI slots.
BTW, new system. Even if you get a powerful AGP card like a X1950 you'll be CPU-limited.

Was thinking of upgrading my AGP 6800GS for a X1950 AGP... is it worth it with my CPU being a Althon 4000+?

A P4 system is too old to be upgraded, however a A64 system is not. Well, if it's an AGP system I wouldn't spend too much on it, but since the motherboard has some head room for CPU upgrade, it could be worth getting an X1950pro, as the CPU will be more than able to handle most recent game at mid resolutions.

[edit] I'd check the motherboard first and the most powerful CPU it can support, however. It shouldn't use a socket 754 as you're using a 4000+, if it's a socket 939 you can use A64 X2s which will make the upgrade more than worthy.
