Its a bit long in the tooth but is above the minimum specs so I think its worth it. might as well get the most out of my family pack.
Definitely install it on the iBook; it runs beautifully on my 1.25Ghz G4 Mac mini with 512MB RAM, better than Tiger did.

Your mouse problem is probably APE related:

Looks like Logitech use an unsupported by Apple and outdated version of APE within their drivers. Update to the latest version of APE and you may be OK.

Has anybody had problems viewing shared folders and drives on a Windows machine/network since upgrading to Leopard? My friend was able to view such things without a hitch in Tiger and then bam, when he upgraded to Leopard he was no longer able to view them in Finder like before. He's able to ping the machine through terminal so something's definitely not quite right.

Yeah, my Mac has only found the Vista machine on the network once, and oddly hasn't even seen the Powerbook (still on Tiger). I've always had problems with networking machines together, though, so I just consider it a bonus if it actually works.

I've not tried connecting to a Windows machine but I've got three Mac's at home on a network. Two on Leopard (one wireless, one wired) and one on Tiger (wireless) and they all talk fine on the network... never had any trouble with them pre-Leopard or (so far) post Leopard.

With the Powerbook I think it could be down to the fact that the hard drive is dying and it takes an age to do anything, so Bonjour networking must be right down the pecking order for it. I know it's capable of doing it because shared iTunes folders appear without a problem.

                Eureka!

I've fixed the problem with my Windows printer over the network after some digging on the Apple support forums. If you're having problems go into the Printer Setup Utility, right-click the toolbar, choose 'Customize' and add the Advanced button to the bar. That gives some more options for more obscure printing protocols, like Windows printing over Samba which will work even if the Windows PC doesn't show up in the list automatically.

I just entered smb://192.168.0.2/hp (that's the PC's IP followed by the share name of the printer) and then saved my password when prompted. Works fine now.

Also if anyone's after a good review of Leopard I suggest you read the Ars Technica one. It goes into tons of depth and I agree with his criticisms of some of the UI changes. It's worth looking back at his reviews of 10.0-10.4 as well, just to see how far OS X has come.

Yeah I read that too. A really solid review - and talk about in depth!

Updated my iMac to Leopard this afternoon. The install ran smoothly and machine is running fine. Everywhere you look there are little changes, some are really subtle and others hit you right away.
Probably take weeks for the Mac community to spot all the changes.

Quick Look is great and will be something you wonder how you got by without. Speed enhancements all over the place with special mention to Spotlight which is really snappy now. Quicktime seems to play some more codecs as well now.

                      CMcK,

Thanks for that but I am not using Logitech drivers. Anyway, my machine seems to have settled now. I haven't had any problems for about two days. Oddly enough, it seems to have become more stable after I turned off spaces. Could be a coincidence though.

Is anyone else having choppy playback with HD trailers? Never had any bother before even with 1080p stuff.

No probs here. with QT. In fact Leopard seems speedier overall.

The firewall has always been off by default in OSX, this isn't news.

                                (a) I have a NAT router and (b) I'm on a Mac. Why would I bother with a software firewall?

Plus yeah, I don't remember ever changing the firewall options and it's off. Was it ever on by default?
