Another Netgear router/Mac OS X problem

    Sorry. I'm incompetent with technology.

I have a Netgear wireless router (DG834G v3) plugged into my iMac's Ethernet port, as it has done so the last year, working fine.

My girlfriend's new Mac has inbuilt Airport, so when she first brought it round, it picked up my router from the different room. Now, err, (pathetic question ahead) her Mac's network setup asks for a password from the router to get a connection. What exactly is it asking for... the ISP password? That doesn't seem to work. I'm really annoyed.

Anyone? I have no idea which password it's asking for!

Is it not just asking for the WEP/WPA password for the wireless network?

That doesn't work. Unless I am doing something wrong on top of that.

          Just checked again.

I'm using the same WEP password that my Wii, my DS and my girlfriend's DS all use to connect to the Internet.

I've added the MAC addresses of all those systems, and the Mac Mini, to the "Wireless Station Access List" section of the set-up, yet the Mac Mini is the only one that the password does not work with.

No, the router probably has wireless security set up.

That's almost certainly what it's asking for. You don't have to put it in, as you're using it wired.

As for what it is... well, you'll have to find out. Try going to 192.168.0.1 and checking in the wireless settings panel. If you've never used it before, the default username should be "admin" and the default password should be "password"
Make sure you take note of whether it's WEP or WPA. I'd switch it to WPA anyway, as WEP is very easy to crack.

            Good luck!

Edit: That's what happens if you leave the window open and go away.
            err... dunno.
