    Is Nvidia 8600GT Direct x10?

Im thinking of picking up a good cheap new graphics card, as my current one seems to be on its last legs. Im not going with ati again, they always seem to give me problems. So i was wondering is the 8600GT fully direct x10, ive seen it preety cheap.

I've got one, I'm not an uber PC gamer, but it runs the Crysis demo at 1280*720 with all settings at medium and 30+ FPS

I bought the witcher the other day and its running like crap and with graphical spots here and there. signs of a dying card methinks, got this with crysis too which in fact run smooth on **** settings. I have one of those ati x1650s. I don't play games much on my pc anymore, so i just need an at least decent one to play some of the bigguns that is coming, like crysis and hellgate for example.

Graphical spots is a overheating thing, sounds like a dying card for sure.

Fact is, for the latest and greatest games, your best going for the 8800GT @ ~£140 for the minimum 256MB model. Might be over your price range, but hey, welcome to PC gaming and why we hate it so :P

8800GT 512meg version would be your best bet, was only released today. Faster than the 8800GTS, only slightly slower than the top end 8800GTX, yet considerably cheaper. Also has improved HD video acceleration.

Will be in stock tomorrow they say.

As above says! It's based on the Nvidia G92 chipset which is 65nm, and has PureVideo2 which the other 8800's don't have, marginally slower than the GTX at a fraction of the price. It's getting stupidly good reviews at the mo.

I upgraded the 6600gt in my HTPC with one of these, great card I dont get any over scan errors on my lcd hdtv or any 50/60hz tv stutter.
I got the PNY version and as its in a media centre I wanted it quieter so I stuck a Zalmen passive cooler on it, and it runs cooler - even playing games!

I've just ordered the overclocked version from Dabs as I cant be bothered messing about getting good settings and for a few quid more it saves me the hassle.

got a link myth? trying to bookmark all the good ones i hear about so i can decide later when i finally have the cash in my hand.

I will definetly need to buy a new case to acually fit the card in. Its a micro atx. Just wondering can a micro atx sized motherboard fit in a standard atx case? the last case i had that i fitted myself, im sure it would allow me to fit different sized motherboards in.
