Wii - SCART or Component?

Dear Tech-heads,

Santa is bringing me a Wii, and being a techno-noob I was wondering whether I would be OK sticking with the bundled component lead or upgrading to SCART. I'll be plugging it into a HD LCD (smallish) Sony Bravia.

Any advice gratefully received - and apologies if this has been dealt with elsewhere...(couldn't find though.)

I'm sure you mean bundled Composite lead, cause there's no way it comes with a bundled Component lead!

If your TV has Component ports, use that as you'll be able to use 480p, otherwise Scart is nearly as good. I do think both are worth paying the extra for.

It's best to feed it 480p from the Component cable. Deinterlacing (in other words, un-jaggy-fying) isn't one of the BRAVIA range's strongest points.

Component it is then, ta - now to find a cheap supplier...

If you don't have Component ports on the TV, nip on ebay and pickup an RGB wired scart lead for the Wii. I have one and the picture difference between it and the bundled composite is (unsurprisingly) very noticeable.

Almost all of the BRAVIA range has at least one Component input thankfully. And some of the higher-end ranges finally have two in Europe as well.
