Who's getting?

I'm super tempted by the Toshiba HD-EP35 from play with 7 titles for ?270, the lesser model doesnt look too shabby either if you candecode the sound hdmiedly.

Any takers?

They're a good deal (although a lesser model Tosh HD DVD player can now be had in the US for $100...), but I'm thinking of getting the Samsung dual format player which comes out next month.

It's expensive but also very high end, and it means whichever way this stupid format war goes it will make zero difference to me.

Yeah I had a look at that one, bluray is confusing me so im a little shy to it does the Samsung carry this new bluray "profile" or something, that 1st gen Toshiba from the states does seem a barg now but i read its a bit slow hope these new ones are up to scratch.

Yeah the Samsung is one of the first BD 1.1 players. BD 2.0 is coming beyond that though and I don't think Samsung have said if their player will be upgradable.

Another option is the new dual format LG player which is also out soon. It's BD 2.0 spec, but lacks the Reon scaler chip for SD DVDs which the Samsung has and is apparently very good.
