    Free mp3 editor?

Can anyone point me in the direction of a good mp3 editor?

By editor I mean one that will allow me to cut and splice files and then save them.

For example I'd like to cut a section off a file I have and save it.

Haven't used it for a while, but if I remember correctly Audacity does what you're looking for.

Download Audacity for free. A free multi-track audio editor and recorder. Audacity is a free, easy-to-use, multi-track audio editor and recorder for Windows, Mac OS X, GNU/Linux and other operating systems. Audacity is free software, developed by a group of volunteers and distributed under the GNU General Public License (GPL).

You can do this in Itune you know, i basically cut and splice all my MP3 ringtones this way. I also like to cut off crappy bits of talking at the beginning of songs, or long winded songs which seem to drag itself to the end.

Audacity is excellent, and in fact I was using it earlier to cut down an MP3 to make a suitable ringtone. Saved me a couple of times when I was doing radio production at uni and couldn't get on the PCs with Cool Edit Pro, as well.

iTunes can splice? I use it for cutting, but I didn't know I could splice with it. How do I do it?
            Kept you waiting, huh?
