PES 2008 very sluggish?

Hi everyone,

Like all the rest of the masses I upgraded to the latest version of PES.

Pro Evo 6 ran without fault on my PC with a high detail settings on a high resoltion. But PES 2008 stutters and slows down to the point where it's unplayable.

I more than meet the recommended specs (3ghz Athlon, 2 gig memory and an ATI X1950 card). I've ran the latest Konami patch, defraged my hard drive and looked around in my BIOS.

I realised my CPU will bottleneck the performance of my graphics card but I should still be able to run PES at the lower settings without the constant slowdown I'm getting.

Any ideas?

I think all versions are a bit gay mate but I don't no I feel used to it now.

Seems smooth for me when im kicking it about on the field. Its all the other stuff like penaltys and replays just.

Yeah, I can't see it being your system. I've one of those graphics cards, they're awesome.

The PC version is just a port of the 360 version I think, which is even more suluggish than the PS3 version.

So its no wonder its sluiggish really.

PES6 was a port of the PS2 game by the way, which was alot smoother than the 360 version, thats why it ran fine on your PC.

I've got the PC version and it runs smooth as silk but the gameplay is reeeeally slow, it's bizarre as i thought the main complaints were the gameplay being too fast!

Really? sounds odd seeing as the series has always been console based in the past. I just tried out the PC demo and it plays slow like the 360 version, the PS3 version is much faster. I think all versions have really terrible and sluggish replays though.

Thanks for all the replies everyone. I find the whole problem very disappointing. Konami should not be relasing a product this shoddy. If a cd or dvd was defective you could a demand a refund; if either were just poor artistically you could avoid by word of mouth. Konami and Pro Evo are names that we trust (niave but true I think). This effort is just not good enough.

I have all 3 versions and the PC version is the smoothest version by far.
This PC version being run on my Dual Core 6600, 2GB ram and 7800 GTX...

Seriously looks awesome on my 24" Dell.

If you're getting a jerky experience online try opening some ports...

It only feels fast for people who played on 360 last year. Us pc users played a different paced game to them last year. aka ps2 version
