    Help. Remote broken

My son has trashed the remote that came with my Marantz SR5200 amp.

It's quite an old amp now, but I've no need to upgrade. The remote has a bunch of very specific stuff on it and it also controls all my other kit via all-in-one codes.

Anyone know if it's possible to get hold of a new one or am I screwed? I've emailed marantz support just now.

How about a Pronto, future proof all in one?

Crikey. Thats expensive. I had to replace a Sony remote once (that I threw at someone) and it cost me £80

          Logitech Harmony ftw.

Problem is there's some very specific buttons on it which I'd have to get the new remote to learn. Except that's not going to happen cos it doesn't work...

No learning with the Logitech remotes. You connect them to your PC and it downloads the info from their database via the interweb.

Ooo. So it might know about all the weird buttons on my marantz surround amp?

Cheapest one is £70. Which one should I go for? I don't need non-line of sight (I think). Or do I need the xbox360 one?

Aye, it might know the Marrantz buttons. The logitech web site used to be a hell of a lot better and it had a list of devices that you could use. I'll try and find it for you.

From memory, I dont think the 360 version offered you anything special, other than A,B,X,Y buttons. They all use the same database system though (as long as they're ones that connect via USB).

The non-line of sight ones use RF (I think). They're more for people who stick all their stuff behind a wall/cabinet. It basically re-transmits the signal to them using an extra device thingy.

Looks like they removed the thing from Logitech's website where you could "pretend" to set up a remote control. I'll check in the software tonight for you Charles.

Someone else is using a Harmony to control the same device as you have: http://forums.logitech.com/logitech/....id=5764#M5764

Took it apart. The IR led or whatever it is, the lens on it is broken. If I hold it right up against the amp, it just about works. Anyone able to remove and solder in a new one if I send it to them please?
