Jap Soul Calibur 2 & 59 Block Memory Card

For some strange reason, I can't get Soul Calibur 2 to perform any saves on an official 59 block Nintendo memory card. I'm playing the game on a modded Japanese GameCube and all of my other Japanese games can save normally (Viewtiful Joe, Mario Sunshine etc). I've tried formatting it via the memory card management screen, in game etc though none of those methods will work. Has anybody else had any problems like this or should I just go and get myself another 251 block memory card (these seem more stable from what I've been told)?

Ahh, so that's how you do it! I haven't had to create a new save file in Soul Calibur 2 since I first got it ages ago. Cheers Abhisara!
