PS1/PS2 to PS3 Memory card adaptor

Ok, I bought a Venom adaptor from HMV a few weeks ago to transfer all my PS1 and PS2 saves to my PS3, but there's a hitch.

My PS2 saves transfered fine, but when I insert the PS1 card, nothing registers on the PS3, so I can't transfer them. I don't know if it's a shoddy adaptor, or if my card is of a different generation or something and not compatible, despite being a blue official model.

I dunno, it's just a bit annoying, and I wondered if anyone else had had a similar issue and maybe a solution.

The only save I'm desperate to transfer is a PAL FF7 save, and I can't even find any online I can aquire to compensate for it.

Is your blue card a translucent one? - if so is there a sealant blob for the chip or an acutal rectangular chip? Because there were a lot of fake ps1 mem cards that looked like the official one.

Or try not pushing the card into the slot completely, sometimes the main areas of contact wears off.

Have you still got a PS2 around? Can't you just transfer the save from the PS1 memory card to a PS2 one first and then use the adapter to get it onto your PS3?

You can't transfer PS1 Save games onto a PS2 Memory card so the adapter's his only choice

Really? I always assumed you could. Do the PS2 memory cardsnot save PS1 games at all?

It's translucent with a square chip. I bought the card from Virgin a few years ago, so I doubt it fake. Also I tried not pushing the card in completely, but no change.

I tried plugging the adaptor into my laptop to see if I could just drag and drop the save onto an SD card and put that into the PS3, but that plan collapsed. Windows asks for drivers to install, which I don't have for the adaptor, so it only half installs I guess.

I don't know what else to try. Would a PS2 max drive acknowledge a PS1 memory card? I might just go and try.

                I really hate technology.

Are there any site with PAL game saves besides Gamefaqs?

                  NO!

You can use the browser function on the PS2 to transfer PS1 games onto PS2 memory card.

Yeah you can't use them from the PS2 card, but you can save them onto it.
