Hope someone can help with this as I'm a little concerned now.

Yesterday I received back my Xbox 360 console after over three weeks in repair (HURRAH! etc.). After an initial scare, it seems to be running ok but my Profile wouldn't load.

Not a major concern at first. I had recovered my gamertag onto my friend?s 360 console so knew that the profile on my HDD would be out of date and would need recovering. However, when it is during the download process eventually it cuts out with the message:

?Signup to Xbox Live is not available at this time?

I tried this multiple times over a three hour period last night. The point at which the message appears during the download varies with each attempt. Sometimes it happens almost immediately, others it stops after around 5 minutes. During the download it even gives me the message that I?ve signed in and tells me which friends are online.

After giving up last night I tried again this morning to no success.

My brothers XBL account works flawlessly as he hasn?t attempted to access his on any other console since the machine went away for repair.

Obviously this is a major concern as without my gamertag/profile I cannot get online or access any save games (or create new saves).

Can you recover your profile on a different machine, transfer it to a memory card and use it on your machine ? It doesn't fix the problem but it does go around it. If your profile doesn't load up on a different machine you know there may be something wrong with the recovery service or your profile.

I have considered that. Unfortunately, the only other person I know with a 360 is aforementioned friend and he works shifts so it’s highly unlikely I’ll get to access his console for a few days. Was hoping to have this resolved quicker than that.

Just a thought - do you have 'auto sign-in' enabled on your profile? Maybe your friends console that you recovered your gamertag onto has been on (and therfore your signed in on their console) when you've been trying to recover your profile on your repaired 360?
If not, m' afraid you'll have to ring up MS
