    Xbox HD partition questions

I have a modded xbox with a 200 gb hard drive , but F is 130gb, while G is 70. Fine i thought, so F is fully loaded, took over a day to do. Today i start on G, but can't see any of the files i put on it in XBMC.

I'm sure there was an option on the Slayers disk to have F as one big partition, but couldn't see that either. USE G is activated in System settings aswell.

Anyone know what i am doing wrong?

You enabled the G: partition in XBMC n' all?

Looked for an option along those lines and couldn't see anything. Is it actually in XBMC?

Also why when i did a full restore with the Slayers, did it still give me the G partition without me asking?

I think its called lmb mode or something, I think it also has to do with the drives key? Sorry not to sure.

xbmc wiki has a bit on large drives -

The partitions are controlled by the BIOS

            ^ aha thats it.
On my X3 chip it has a large mode selection option.
anything over 137 needs to be set to on.

I thought any X3 bios could fix this, as I have partitioned/formated my 500 HD a couple of times, everytime it fails to write over +/- 300 Gigs... Should I get another BIOS then? It really puzzles me.
...or have I forgotten some setting? (I just select F, large LBA48 setting)

So i guess i should reflash the chip, as am i right in thinking it has the wrong BIOS? i.e one for a less than 137gb hd.

The Xbox will not reliably handle more than about 380Gb (137Gb for F: + 255Gb for G: )

Xbox BIOSs come in various formats. You may have seen .6 or .67 versions.
.6 means that partition 6 (F: ) should take the remaining space and .67 is 6 (F: again) takes upto 137Gb and 7 (G: ) takes the rest or upto 256Gb after which it will corrupt.

So is it not possible to have F any larger that 137? You couldn't have F as the whole 200, in my case?

                      Yeah, upto 255Gb

.6 means that partition 6 (F: ) should take the remaining space

Sorry to dive on the thread, so is 137Gb the most you can have for a softmod then?

Thanks mate. Can you remember off the top of your head the name of the BIOS i need off the Slayers disk?

Again it will depend on what BIOS your softmod is loading but there is no physical reason why you shouldn't be able to use the full amount.

I assumed the box could handle up to 500.... (as I thought this was stated elsewhere too?)
I think some people over at Eurasia have a 400 Gig HD running on the box.

Damn... Uh, anyone know how much the PS2 DMS4 SE Pro can handle?
Guess I'll have to fit the HD in that one if the chip supports it...

                              Thanks Smouty
