Switching Xbox 360 to 60 Hz on a monitor

    Hey

I have my (PAL) 360 hooked up via VGA and yet I'm getting a message telling me to switch it to 60Hz mode. I've looked in the appropriate menu, but there's nothing there. I have a feeling that I need to plug in a regular AV cable first, but I don't have a TV to use, only a monitor. Can anyone help? Perhaps someone can guide me through the appropriate button presses so that I can make the switch blind?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Actually, I can't get those instructions to work. I must've tried it 10 times or more. Can anyone advise anything?

Confusing. VGA won't work at 50Hz. That's why for PAL 360 owners wanting to play 50Hz only XBox games they have to switch connection type. It's also why it's a European only problem as America's NTSC is only 60Hz.
The day I got my 360 I got the VGA cable as well and used it from the off. After a couple of weeks I wanted to try Halo on the 360 and as I don't have component sockets I had to buy a RGB SCART for 50Hz only stuff.
Going between the 2 I've never had to do anything in the dash.
Is it your TV or 360 telling you to switch to 60Hz? Is it happening with all games?

ok, so you boot up the console until it is on the dash

          RB,RB,RB
          A
          A
          Down
          Down
          A
          Up
          A

Turn off and plug back in, and that should do it.

            RARGH! Ace, thanks Boris!

I think you might need an extra up and A, but it's hard to tell. I couldn't do it until I bodged together some sound, but it works now.

Silly bug in the console, isn't it! They should really fix that.
