Anyone bought/contemplating getting a Wii just for Super Mario Galaxy ?

It's the first Wii title to really grab me by the wotsits, going to take some very strong resistance not to pick one up "for the kids" prior to Xmas.

Anyone else thinking of doing the same ?

I sold mine as I hated it, and there hasn't been a title until SMG that has made me want to get another, but definitely going to get one now.

I sold mine a month ago because I was desperate for money (stupid student loans messed up). Was expecting my loan to arrive in time to buy one back just for mario, but it seems even if my loan does turn up (idiots) it'll be a struggle to get one.

I didn't buy it just for this game but pretty much everything else I've played has been very disappointing so far.

Without this, it would definately get sold!

I'm tempted to buy SMG for my Wii now, complete it and then sell it on ebay to make myself some cash over xmas. It's the least utilised console I've ever had.

I'm buying another Wii primarily for SMG and there's the bonus of Wii Sports back. Most other stuff has left me pretty unimpressed tbh which is why I sold mine. Disappointing really, but cheap enough to get another one.

I bought mine for Mario.

I used the excuse of "Family Christmas" present to get it on the family budget.

I picked up:

HARDWARE:
Wii Console with Wii Sports
Second Nunchuck
Classic Controller
Component Cable
Wii Points

SOFTWARE:
Wii Play with Free Remote
Mario Galaxy
Metroid Prime (Used)
Resident Evil 4 (Used)

Prime and Resi are just a bonus, as I enjoyed those games on my cube.

All this lot is bagged and put away, and it will stay that way untill Christmas.

I just can't not have Mario. Other games are a bonus but I expect to sell the lot in February.

If I'd have kept mine I'm sure I'd be enjoying Mario hugely (My favourite of all of the Nintendo franchises, by a mile), but as it is I won't be picking one up again just for this. Given time and a considerable number of proper games I might pick one up again, but not for the foreseeable future sadly.

Shame, as I really do want to play it.

Ironically, we just had a major plumbing problem in the house, and I was looking at selling my hardly-ever-used Wii to help pay for it, but a certain fat Italian plumber is preventing me from doing so.

I'm severely tempted, for Mario Galaxy and the new Fire Emblem. Still two games (even if I really want both of them) isn't really a good enough justification for me to buy one.

Actually there are many places where you can get it for ?25 in the UK.

SMG is the exception to the rule of import games getting here sooner and being cheaper.

SMG being released here only 4 days later, and typically taking that long or more to arrive from the States.

Still, MP3 was out 2 months earlier and non-importers won't be enjoying Zack & Wiki over Christmas (or for ?20 - with free p&p from Movetyme) either!

Not just for MG although that is part of the attraction. I've been seriously considering a Wii before a XB360 (my natural choice) because of Fire Emblem: DoR, like some others here.

I bought a GC for the first time only a year ago really just to play Z: Twilight Princess although it has given me access to a range of other exclusives I've so far mostly enjoyed. FE: PoR being a particular highlight. But that was justified simply because the console cost me nothing (I'd saved up my Nectar points for 5 years).

If only it had a few more titles that I know I'd enjoy it would justify getting a Wii but spending ?200 just to play two or three games and hope it's going to deliver more - nah, it's just not good sense now.

Actually there are many places where you can get it for £25 in the UK.

I think what TommyG was saying is that he bought a US Wii Console + SMG for less than it'd have cost to buy a UK Wii. VG+ do the 2 together for approx. £175 + shipping....not that I'm tempted of course!!! (must resist urge)
