Does a PSP need to have an SD card to play some games?

Just wondering about this as I heard a salesman at Game telling a woman that she had to buy an SD card with her PSP Slim, otherwise it wouldn't work with certain games. He said that without the SD card a lot of the newer games wouldn't even load. Is that right?

Just asking out of curiosity really as I've only played other people's PSPs, never owned one myself.

Metal gear portable ops wont work without a memory card, everything else ive played works fine though.

uh, its not SD, its sony's own memory stick /pro/duo

I would have too, but I genuinely don't know anything about the PSP. I did know enough to know it sounded very unlikely, but can you imagine if I'd been wrong and had got a dressing down from a Game employee?
