NTSC GC Modified RGB Cable question...

I was under the impression that using this cable, you either get a picture or you don't?

I've just plugged it up to a TV i've just got hold of and i'm getting a black and white picture. I thought RGB got around any compatibility issues? Fair enough, the TV might not have supported RGB but I thought that if that was the case I just wouldn't get a picture at all. I wasn't expecting a black and white picture.

Do the modified cables carry a normal composite signal as well as RGB?

yeah i think what your seeing is a composite picture.

make sure the cable is plugged into AV1 on your tv, as thats normaly the only RGB one, also make sure you plugged both plugs in the digital and analogue out ports on your gamecube.
