Bought an s-video lead to use on my crt.

Right ok I bought an s-video scart to connect my pc to tv but when I went to try it I think I found I don't have an s-video output on my pc. My pc seems to have an s-video input instead so the cable wouldn't fit.

What should I do?- What do I need- What should i buy?

    -thanks

Does your TV accept s-video over scart?

If your PC doesn't have an svid output, you are stuffed unless you buy a new Gfx card. Note that it would have looked really rubbish anyway, so not sure why you are wanting to do this. If it's for vids and photos, save your money and get a modded xbox with xbmc on it.

All I was going to use it for was to play pro evo on my tv. I wasn't really worried how it looks visually. It was just more of a comfort thing.

Yes my tv has 2 scarts and im sure 1 of them takes s-video.

All I no is when tried it would not fit as my lead has 5 little pins and on my pc it has about 8 or 9. And when i looked at the back of my pc it says s-video I.

So either that means input or I need a different lead with 8-9 pins?

that 8-9 pin port is a combination in/out port, u can either get a little breakout cable (shouldnt be more than 99p, actually one should really have come with the card) or er, well this works on mine anyway, the standard svideo cable should line up and plug into it just not using all the extra pins, and that'll give you output.

Well thats good news . I googled it earlier and heard about breakout cable but I didn't no about combination ports. Im sure mine didn't fit though but I will try again.

Have you seen these breakout cables anywhere like amazon etc?

                -cheers

ooooo I think I've found my pc's breakout cable in a box.

In case you don't find what you need I have one of these you can have if you cover postage.

                    Solved a similar problem I had when I needed a longer 8pin to 5 pin s-vid cable.

Shocker Im not so sure it does as I can't get a picture whatsoever.

Wish I had of got the other lead I was going to buy as it had the option to use it without scart.

Should I not be getting a blacknWhite picture anyway if my tv didn't except it with scart?

Checking my tv manual and it does say that 1 of the scarts does s-video so I don't no what's happening.

some tv's have a menu option or a seperate AV input like AV2-S that you need to enable.

Yes, if it actually does support S-Video, on many TVs you'll need to go into the menus to enable it on any particular SCART socket, usually the non-RGB one.

BTW doesn't your TV have a purpose designed S-Video socket? Most of the WS LCD/CRT/PLASMA I've seen (and both the ones I have) inlude a S-video socket alongside the composite/audio L/R. ones. I rarely use S-Video but often found that PQ seems a little better using this rather than through SCART.
