    Fully Hide the Taskbar?

    I'm a fussy bugger about having a clean desktop on my PC. Got rid of every desktop icon, moved the recycle bin to the start bar, and set the system tray to auto-hide... except you can still just about see it, a nasty white line on the bottom of the screen? Anyone know how to fully hide it?

    Using Vista 64-bit, but XP tips might still apply.

    Cheats way of doing it - stretch the screen by a few pixels vertically and move the display down a couple of pixels \0/

      make this into a reg entry

      REGEDIT4

      [-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Explorer\StuckRects2]

      [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Policies\Explorer]
      "NoSetTaskbar"=dword:00000001
      "NoTrayItemsDisplay"=dword:00000001
      "HideClock"=dword:00000001
      "NoToolbarsOnTaskbar"=dword:00000001
      "NoTrayContextMenu"=dword:00000001
      "NoSaveSettings"=dword:00000000

      If you have removed all icons and the taskbar, how will you start any programs?

        ^Well I don't want to remove the taskbar completely, just make it so that you can't see the white line it leaves behind when set to autohide. It'll still be down there, autohidden.

        Anyway I'll give that reg a go

            Or windows+R (not sure if that still works without a taskbar though!)

                Err, thanks, looked spiffy and all, but doesn't that actually create a new taskbar, rather than hiding the one I have? :P

                  I do the same as you mate, its annoying that there is that 1 pixel line all along the bottom though!

                      Mine is black and so is the desktop just now and there is still a faint white line there!

                      By the way, I downloaded that wee tool RocketDock, its ace! Means I can minimize stuff away to that so its off the Start Menu if its something I just want running in the background. Keeps things from getting really messy as I often have tons of windows all over the shop when doing work.
