Can you play DivX files from a USB drive on the 360?

I've trying to run DivX files from my 1st gen iPod Shuffle with no luck.

Does anyone know if this is possible?

My 360 recognises my iPod Shuffle if I was to use music or pictures but no joy at all with DivX files!

If the shuffle has some kind of USB mass storage mdoe then yes, if not then no.

It will work with a standard USB stick

Yes it does but I can't get the 360 to recognise it mate!

Yet it recognises my iPod Shuffle if I want to view pics or play MP3's...

      What am I doing wrong?

I tried it yet again tonight...

When you go to the Video option, where it recognised my iPod Shuffle in Music or Pictures, the option is a blanked off portable device!!!

It might be that it is formatted funny, maybe try plugging it into your PC and format it via windows.

Although it appears that the Ipods are partitioned so that the music/pictures are separate to the mass storage partition, so you might not be able to at all, because the 360 is seeing the ipod bit first.

Yeah, I think the 360 treats iPods as special cases.

Plug any "normal" USB drive into it, and it just accesses the files.

Plug an iPod into it, and it digs into the iPod database: the "mass storage" side of things seems to be ignored.

              Anyway, around it?

I remember on itunes, you could move a slider to dedicate what percentage you want for storage and what you want for music for normal listening.

But it seems that this isnt possible on the new version of itunes!

Boris, I'll give that format thing a go tonight!

We reckon that it probably won't work, because when you plug it in it recognises it as a USB device and an IPOD, the 360 sees the Ipod bit and ignores the rest.

****e... No way round at all then?

                  Oh well... Wishful thinking!

Looks like I need to burn my 1080p prawn onto DVD-RW's then!

I formated my Shuffle and the 360 now recognises it now!

                    Cheers for your help, bro!

ah cool glad it helped. Probably formatted for in a file system the 360 doesn't like.
