USA GBA advance, does it need step down trans???

my boss bought a GBA for his son from the usa, and wants to swap over the two pin lead with a uk AC adaptor, is this possible does he need a step down converter, i have told him he might be able to just buy the normal GBA ac adaptor from argos and it should run, but im not 100% sure any one out there know for sure...

A US Mains adaptor requires a step down, if he can get a UK adaptor it should be fine.
