Wii problems - is it on its way out?

Ever since I bought it, my NTSC Wii has occasionally just refused to display anything and gone black when loading up a GC, Wii or VC game.

Well, yesterday Zack & Wiki loaded up slowly after a black screen and then a power off and reboot, but when it did load up, the music kept skipping. Then today, the game crashed whilst loading up and I got an error message.

Once I powered down, ejected and booted up again it was fine. The disc has no marks on it BTW, nor do any of my others.

I'm worried that my Wii may end up dying. If this does happen, what are my options?

Mine does it from time to time, more often than not its due to a mail coming in.

I have heard that it can be due to wifi but often I've had no mail but it happens anyway.

Sometimes mine takes a few seconds to start spinning the disc and load the game actually... I've just put it down to doing something else for some reason before launching the game.

Could it be due to my not using an official power supply?

I'm using a 3rd party UK supply, variable voltage. Maybe the niggly requirements of the Wii when loading games causes it to fail due to the supply not being quite right for it?

Nope i doubt t as its happened to mine before & im using the original power supply. I wouldnt worry about it too much, start worrying when you get error screens.

My Wii is not showing any picture or sound whatsoever now. tried a diff power supply just incase but no luck.
Wii remotes also refuse to sync.

The thing powers on and the disc eject works but other than that nothing =[
hope i dont have to send it back as it's imported

Have you tried a different video cable, ben? Can you hear the Wii accessing the disc?

                  yep tried component and compo****e
The fact wii motes won't sync at all to the console makes me think it's very unlikely to sort itself

My NTSC launch Wii is fine, however with two different types of 3rd party UK PSU's i got no picture whatsoever.

Odd, but could be the same for you Ben.

Well, good to know that I guess, thanks.

I did get an error message once. I guess that some Wiis just aren't 100% perfect. A lot of people that I know never ever get black screens and have to reset, wish I was so lucky. Still, could be worse.

Thanks for the thread hojack Ouenben. > Sounds shafted to me TBH. If you've just got it you should be able to send it back and get a replacement. If not, well... might have to look into people locally that you can pay to fix it, unless you know someone in the US that will send it back to Nintendo on your behalf. If it was me I don't know where I'd start.

sorry about that, just didnt see the point in making a new thread and was wondering if anyone else had similar problems.

it's 13 months old. Stopped working on Xmas eve
Videogamesplus said they don't normally deal with orders >12 months but as I was a regular customer they'd return it to Nintendo for repair for me (providing I pay shipping)

Wow, that's really good of them!

I'm royally screwed if mine goes, as it's older than 6 months and the guy from eBay has said he'd do the posting for me but he can't wangle the warranty like VG+ does. I just hope that it lasts the course and doesn't kark it after 13 months!

It's not just a question of money, but all of the the VC games and stuff, y'know?

Erk, it happened twice in a row today.

The way it happens, it's not like it crashes.. it just goes to the Disc Channel, I select to load it, then it goes blank as always but just forgets to load - there's no disc drive activity at all.

I only get this when I have the internet set up on it. If I uninstall my internet settings and turn my USB adaptor off it never happens.
