Xbox 360 resets when av input changed

Im guessing this is down to DRM or whatever. When im using 1080P through hdmi if i change AV inputs the xbox resets itself.

    Is this normal?

    ****ing annoying if it is.

I think so, my HDMI DVD player turns off if the TV is turned off or if I change to a different channel

        Cheers lads.

I suspected as much. Such a shame. I wonder if they mention this in the manual.

The Xbox 1 did this, too. I remember being irritated by it!

I dont think mine does? I've gone from 360 (via Componet) to TV, so HDMI, and back with no issues?!

Am I missing something ? Running in 720p mind if that helps or changes anything?

I'm still not sure if he was talking about changing channels on his tv or actually changing the cables.

Ah now that's a fair point indeed Boris!

I've not done that so it could be!

I think this is a TV thing though not a console thing? Something about not maintaining the HDCP chain properly unless its on the channel?

I think its a 1080P/HDMI/HDCP thing. It never did it through Component at 1080i

I was talking about changing the input on the tv, so having the Xbox through the HDMI and then pausing it, switching to normal TV for 10 mins then switching back. Not changing cables, just channels.

My Xbox 360 sometimes doesn't even begin the bootup sequence if I turn it on before I turn on my TV/projector. The PS3 does the same. Yeah, very "forking" clever guys, I bet some engineer is really proud of that.

But, it shouldn't do this when you switch inputs. If it does, I think it's more a case of a bad HDMI implementation in your TV (what TV is it?)

When I disconnect/reconnect the HDMI cable from my own 360, it stays on, and even gives an "HDCP Link Restored" message when I reconnect the TV (assuming I'm playing a film that is).

Just tried it on the projector there - changing inputs and also disconnecting and reconnecting the HDMI cable, while playing Burnout Revenge. The game stayed on.
