Which Guitar Hero version is the aces?

    Hi,

I've decided to take the plunge & give Guitar Hero a blast. I've never played any before.

Which version should I buy? PS3, Wii or 360? Also is GHIII the best for a newbee?

    Ta!

Guitar Hero 2 for the 360 is your best bet. GH3 seems to be aimed at people that have already played a prior game in the series. Plus I think the interface is better in GH2 than in GH3. Also I personally think that GH2 has a better collection of songs.

I'd say Guitar Hero II on the 360, but with the Guitar Hero III wireless guitar!!

Not that helpful I guess. The guitar hero wireless guitar is far superior, but I think personally that Guitar Hero II has the better tracklist and also isn't quite as easy. Guitar Hero III seems to have a massive window for hitting the notes, whereas 2 asks you to be a bit more accurate. If you bought 3 and loved it, then bought 2 I think you'd struggle.

Um GH1 still does it for me. I love so many of the tracks on that game.

Guitar Hero II has the best sound track by far. They seem to have gone a bit middle-of-the-road with the tracklist in GH III in an effort to grab those casual gamer $$$s. Format's not important with GH II as even the PS2 version has prog scan and even HD lag adjustment if you need it, although the 360 version has achievements

Another fan of GHII here. I'll say 360 though as the PS2 one isn't as nice. Looks worse obviously, no DLC and the guitar does feel different and not as good as the 360 one!

Considering the DLC is overpriced and is mostly crap like My Chemical Fagness that's no loss, really. GH II Already has tracks by Danzig, Motley Crue and Lamb of God, what more do you need?

GH2 again with the Wireless GH3 Guitar on the 360.

Better songs and there all played diffrently where as GH3 there's about 10 tracks that play the same strum same note over and over then wee solo then back to strumming the same note until the next solo......

                GH2 by a mile :P

I disagree, the soundlist in GH3 is the best. Personally i prefer GH3 to 2.

I'm not really into the sort of music that Guitar Hero is about, but when you play it you forget all that, despite that I'm sure there are better old school rock tracks than III offers.

Imagine some Michael Jackson guitar heavy tracks like Beat It or White Stripes and Kings of Leon stuff. So much potential but I bet they'll never happen due to licensing.

This is why I want Beat It in GHIII:

Theres a custom sort of program available on the net, that allows you to create your own guitar hero tracks. I think its called frets of fire and its like stepmania. Theres a ton of user created content available for it, but ive yet to try it myself.

Frets on fire is the nutz, i use the GH2 360 controller with it on the PC. Theres a fair bit of user content out there for it

Welcome to Frets On Fire, the number one source of the top online games, have a look below at the best casinos

Worth getting if you pick up the GH2 guitar, not sure if it works with the wireless guitar mind you

I would recommend GH2 here again, GH3 is superb and better graphics and lip sync etc but there are loads more good songs with 2 imo

How do the wired and wireless guitars compare on the 360? Other than the wire and shapes, do they feel and play the same?

I'd start with GH2 as GH3 is a bit easier and if you get used to that you'll struggle with GH2 which has has better note sequences and a selection of rockier songs.

I much prefer the wireless guitar, feels alot more solid and weightier to me, plus the buttons are easier to differentiate.
