    Sony Widescreen TV Advice

I have just got a new Sony TV and I am mostly happy with it apart from one thing.

On playing My NTSC Gamecube through RGB there is a flashing pattern down the bottom left and right, although this is more prominent on the left.

This also happens on certain NTSC PS2 games, although not all of them. Region 1 DVD's are the same also.

    Any advice please??

TV needs calibrated. I'd send it back.

      Neil,

Thanks for the response. This does not happen on every Jap / US PS2 game, though it does on every US / JAP GameCube Game. You sure the TV needs calibrating??

Another strange thing, when you change the Widescreen mode to 4:3, it still flickers in the bottom left. Is it a TV or Console Fault...

      Once again, thanks for responding.

      Regards

When i first had my Wega in 99 i got through 3 sets before the screen was right, even now on ntsc dvd i see a red green and blue line at the top of the screen.

Sony cant set up tvs for ****. Get a service engineer in a force him to phone sony up and get them to tell him how to get into the service menu. Then go from there.

Thanks for your responses, they are all helpful. I am just a little worried that if I call an engineer out, he will see that it plays Pal games ok and I will be stumped.

I just cannot understand why it only does it on certain NTSC games on the PS2, all my NTSC games on my Cube yet the Xbox is fine, regardless of wether it is PAL/NTSC.

Would it have anything to do with the resolution at which the PS2 / GameCube games are running at??

Got me baffled that is for sure

Which NTSC games? Are JPN games ok/bad on PS2 and are US games ok/bad on PS2?

I *think* unless you have switched the region a NTSC game on a chipped PAL xbox will output PAL 60 hz (may be 50 hz as well)

Could be that your TV doesn't like (due to a problem or setup) a certain type of NTSC (I know there are a couple), but I'm not sure if I'm right, someone please comment on this?

but being a new sony tv i assume that it can display ntsc without rgb , so that shouldnt be an issue. My wega is capable of displaying ntsc, but i got fed up with engineers and what not and was prepared to put up with the very minor problem i had.

Once again guys, thanks for all the responses. Reminds me of what a friendly bunch ntsc-uk users are.

Guess what, I have solved it, and do not laugh, it was my fault

I also have a Sony Amplifier with Mini Speakers and Sub and the flickering was only present when the Amp is on.....

I have now moved the Amp to the bottom shelf and Bingo, all gone.

Sorry for wasting anyones time, but appreciate your efforts all the same.

                  Regards
