60/80gb Ps3

So where would be the best place to get a PS2-game compatible PS3?
Looking to buy in Febuary. Wasn't looking to get a PS3 so soon but as the PS2 BC consoles are dying out I want to secure one fast!

yeh It'd be too difficult/expensive to get a PS2BC console in the UK i'd of thought as the 60gb go for tonnes on ebay.

I assume most games are region free on PS3?

The 40GB model on sale in Europe doesn't play PS2 games.

Europeans really do get the shaft. I don't really get it... 40GB and 80GB models were in abundance in every Best Buy in Florida but no 80GB models aren't designed for the European market? What genius at Sony came up with that idea?

I'm really starting to hate Sony with these decision. At least the PS3 is a nice machine all in all...

I got an 80 gig from VG+ for about £320.

I just bought an 80GB PS3 in the States (Best Buy) just before Christmas... It plays PS2/PS1 games. This 80GB console "with Motorstorm" is still on store shelves and even in stock at VG Plus.

Yes, but once the stock runs out, they're gone. Sony aren't producing any more.

Wow... I find it a bit odd that they'd make this decision considering that the PS2 was backwards compatible till the end. PS1 games are being sold till this day.

Most people seem to be buying both PS2 and PS3 which is probably their decision behind it.
